Iowa sensation Caitlin Clark drains winner from logo to cap 40-point night

Disregarding the way that she transported off it from the Hawkeyes logo close midcourt, Caitlin Clark knew her shot at the ringer was going in.

So did her coach.

"Caitlin has ice in her veins," Iowa's Lisa Bluder said. "Everyone knows it."

Clark showed it again with her long three-pointer as time finished, giving her 40 fixations and the No. 4 Hawkeyes a 76-73 triumph over Michigan State on Tuesday night.

Clark, the country's driving scorer, was 14 of 34 from the field and went more than 14 minutes without a point in a stretch in the second and third quarters. The Hawkeyes got her the ball to some degree as of late - yet far off from the container - as Clark took the pass from Hannah Stuelke and hit from 30 feet as the sign sounded.

"Truly, when it left my hand, I comprehended it was going in," Clark said.

The Hawkeyes (14-1, 3-0 Critical Ten) relaxed their series of rules to 11 matches behind Clark and Stuelke, who had 15 center interests

Michigan State (11-3, 1-2) had tied the game at 73 on DeeDee Hagemann's layup with 22 seconds left. After a break, the Hawkeyes worked the clock down. Stuelke lost the ball immediately, yet recuperated to get it to Clark.

That bobble, Clark said, could have had the effect.

"I think it basically sort of helped me out because my young lady (Michigan State's Moira Joiner) nearly went for the take a touch," Clark said. "I had the decision to get to my step-back to the side, which is my #1 shot."

Clark hit an essentially indistinguishable ringer blender against Indiana in last year's standard season finale. This time, she ran to the far-off edge of the court with her arms outstretched as the sellout swarm celebrated.

"I nearly began chuckling," Clark said. "I think everyone was like, 'Liberal, express due to God, this game's done, we don't need to go to extra time.' You know, it was revolting, yet it was a victory, and that is huge persistently's end."

Michigan State coach Robyn Fralick said the Spartans shielded the last play well.

She made a really hard shot," Fralick said.

Clark had 19 of Iowa's hidden 33 spots, yet went from the six-minute sign of the second quarter to the 1:32 nature of the third without a point as the Spartans made a critical lead with 2:23 left in the second from the last quarter.
